Staying true to our DNA of igniting boldness, inspiring action, and celebrating diversity, Doritos® created SOLID BLACK® in 2021 to bolster the voices of Black Changemakers - those who use innovation and determination to drive culture, change the status quo, and give back. Doritos launched this platform with its first class of Changemakers and a limited-edition packaging design in support of the National Urban League to commemorate the program.
In 2022, Doritos SOLID BLACK welcomed a new class of Changemakers and donated to select non-profit organizations that were important to them and our community.
Doritos also sponsored the PEPSI National Battle of the Bands and various HBCU homecoming events. During these events, Doritos sampled its limited-edition SOLID BLACK product and showcased artwork created by the talented Mz Icar artist collective.
During its third year, Doritos SOLID BLACK had its largest impact ever! Doritos SOLID BLACK and the PepsiCo Foundation teamed up to support a new class of Black Changemakers with funding and more resources. Each Black Changemaker's nonprofit organization received a $50,000 grant from the PepsiCo Foundation to celebrate and support the bold impact of their efforts. The Black Changemakers program also supported leaders with personal and professional leadership development, fundraising capabilities, impact measurement, and network building. Doritos will share its platform with these game-changing Black Changemakers to amplify their nonprofits' missions to inspire and catalyze others to support their cause. Doritos SOLID BLACK partnered again with Mz Icar to create the artwork that appeared on the first ever national limited time offering bags co-created with Chef Chris Williams.
Doritos SOLID BLACK continued to partner with HBCUs during homecoming season and made its presence felt during the PEPSI National Battle of the bands awarding $120,000 of scholarships towards participating HBCUs. During this event, Doritos SOLID BLACK previewed its exclusive merch drop in partnership with Bricks & Wood.
